MIRI – The two top guns of the Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) have appealed to voters to give them five more years as state assemblymen to fulfil their intended tasks for the constituents.
SUPP president Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian and secretary-general Datuk Sebastian Ting have separately urged voters to sweep them back into office, come polling day on Saturday.
Dr Sim – who is also the Batu Kawah incumbent candidate – said he needs another term to realise important tasks that are still outstanding in his area.
“Drainage and flood mitigation projects, affordable housing, and traffic and road improvements are (some of the) key areas being looked into.
“I also hope to realise the cancer specialist hospital project for Kuching city,” he said on a social media chat. “Give me five more years before I retire.”
Meanwhile, Ting – who is the incumbent assemblyman of the Piasau constituency in Miri city – appealed for one more term to complete his tasks.
He said Miri needs a lot of improvements in terms of affordable housing, rebooting the local economy, reviving the tourism sector, creating jobs, tackling urban poor issues, and expanding healthcare services.
“We will also need to have a cancer specialist centre here to cater to increasing needs.
“Our development agenda on the social and economic fronts are going into high gear,” he said at a press conference.
Both Dr Sim and Ting are facing DAP candidates in their urban seats. Urban Sarawak is now known for hardcore support towards the opposition among the electorate.
