SARAWAK United Peoples Party has urged the Federal Government to expand its Madani Rahmah Sales campaign more extensively to benefit the rakyat throughout Sarawak.

SUPP secretary general Datuk Sebastian Ting said the sales of essential foodstuffs via Madani Rahmah campaigns have seen ordinary rakyat buying these necessities at very cheap prices.

"The Madani Rahmah sales have benefitted a lot of people already, such as here in Miri.

"Last year, 130 sessions of sales were organised in Miri by the federal ministry that have benefitted many from the lower income groups.

"We want more of such sales to be organised regularly.

"Hold these sales throughout Sarawak, in all urban and rural districts," he said when gracing the Madani Rahmah sales in a housing area in Miri.

Ting, who is state assemblyman for Piasau, said the lower income folks are grateful to be able to buy daily essentials at much lower prices compared to normal rates during these Madani Rahmah sales.

SUPP has also praised the high EPF dividends announced on March 1.

A grassroot leader of SUPP praised the high EPF dividends announced by the federal authorities as a tremendous boost for retirement savings for the rakyat.

Party central leadership member Datuk Sim Kiang Chiok, who is chairman of SUPP Stakan branch said the 6.3 percent dividends augur well for all with EPF accounts.

"The high dividends are welcomed  by all.

"The latest development reflects that EPF very effective and prudent in management of the retirement fund.

"In the global economic situation now, the high rates is a boost to savings and will serve the rakyat well.

"Accumulated over years, these high dividends will help boost savings for the retirement years," he said in a statement.

The EPF yesterday announced the highest dividends in years for both the conventional and Shariah accounts.
