KUALA LUMPUR – A senior citizen has been injured and four houses crushed after a landslide occurred early this morning in Jalan Pelimbayan Indah, Kg Sg Penchala.
Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Khairul Azuwan Ibrahim said the team rescued a 70-year-old woman who was stuck in waist-deep mud and found that four houses were destroyed.
He added that an emergency call was placed at 1.22am and teams from the Taman Tun Dr Ismail and Sri Hartamas stations were deployed immediately after.
“The rescuers were able to extract the victim. She has some injuries to her legs and has been sent to the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre for treatment,” he said in a statement.
He said a total of 35 rescuers were on site, including police and civil defence personnel.
“The affected area is now cordoned off for safety reasons while the Fire and Rescue Department conducts checks.”
