KOTA BARU – Kelantan state exco members and assemblymen will be getting a pay raise of between RM3,000 and RM5,000, said Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah.
He was quoted as saying by Astro Awani that this is to narrow the pay gap compared with representatives in other states.
Mohd Amar said the raise will be different for menteri besar, exco members, and assemblymen.
He added that being an assemblyman in Kelantan is like a social worker because the people there need help and attention.
“With the current (economic) situation, the money will still go to the people because our representatives are like social workers,” he told the state assembly today.
The Kelantan government is proposing to amend the Enactment (Remuneration) Members of the Administration and the Legislative Assembly 1980 to enable the pay raise. – The Vibes, November 5, 2020
