KUALA LUMPUR – The flood disaster has left 48 dead and five victims remain missing, said the nation’s top cop.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said in a statement that Selangor remained the state with the highest number of deaths, with 25 victims, followed by Pahang (20) and Kelantan (three).

“The victims in Selangor involved 17 men and eight women, and in Pahang the victims were 14 men, four women and two boys.”

In Kelantan, the victims were two men and a girl. 

Meanwhile, a total of 32 locations have been affected by floods and 37 recorded landslides, among others, as at 10am today.

According to the Public Works Department, there are 13 locations with collapsed roads, one sunken road and two broken/collapsed bridges – all recorded in two districts in Kelantan, eight in Pahang, five in Selangor, two in Kedah, two in Negri Sembilan and one in Terengganu.

Also, 24 federal and 61 state roads have been affected.

The flood disaster started more than a week ago, hitting Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Pahang the hardest. – The Vibes, December 27, 2021
