KUALA LUMPUR – Over 100 families in Kg Sg Penchala received RM1,000 each today in compassionate monetary aid from the Federal Territories Ministry following the landslides that severely damaged their homes and property.

Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim said the National Disaster Management Agency had channelled the National Disaster Relief Trust Fund of RM400,000 to his ministry for distribution to the first 400 families affected by natural disasters within the Federal Territories.

“Currently, 46 families are temporarily housed at Sekolah Kebangsaan Sg Penchala, while 61 families refused to be relocated.

“Nonetheless, all 107 families will receive this assistance today,” he told reporters after handing the aid to the victims at the relief centre.

Despite identifying 12 non-Malaysian families in Kg Sg Penchala, Shahidan assured that aid will also be extended to them.

However, he did not elaborate in detail.

On another note, Shahidan praised numerous non-government organisations and individuals for their tireless assistance and donations to disaster victims across the country.

Also present at the ceremony was Kuala Lumpur City Mayor Datuk Seri Mahadi Che Ngah.

On December 20, a landslide occurred at Jalan Pelimbayan Indah in Kg Sg Penchala involving 94 houses and 413 residents. – The Vibes, December 28, 2021
