KUALA LUMPUR – The government has increased the allowance for more than 1,900 firefighters beginning 2021, among several initiatives aimed at the civil service.

Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz announced an increase from RM6 to RM8 per hour for firefighters, in appreciation of their dedication and hard work.

"Additionally, the government is also introducing a free personal accident protection scheme civil service of up to RM100,000 for new borrowers of the public sector’s housing financing board from 2021 to 2022," he said when tabling the Budget 2021.

He also said the government has agreed to give a one-off payment of RM500 each to 40,000 recipients of the Pingat Jasa Pahlawan Negara, which is usually rewarded to retired servicemen. – The Vibes, November 6, 2020
