KUALA LUMPUR – Lembaga Tabung Haji has been instructed to resolve the dress code issue following a letter to its staffers at TH Hotel & Residence Sdn Bhd prohibiting them from wearing songkok or kopiah while on duty.

After contacting Tabung Haji CEO Datuk Seri Amrin Awaluddin, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Idris Ahmad said the memo was issued by the hotel manager without getting prior feedback.

Idris added that Amrin has been instructed to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

“I got to know of the TH Hotel Kelana Jaya memo after returning from Isyak prayers. I directly contact TH CEO Datuk Seri Amrin, and this was his response.

“(I was told that) The memo was issued by the hotel manager without prior feedback.

“No real problem, as long as their uniforms are clean, tidy, safe, orderly, and cover their aurat.

“I’ve asked the CEO to resolve this issue immediately,” he posted on his Facebook page last night.

The memo, apparently issued by TH Hotel Kelana Jaya manager Mohamad Nazrul Nazib Nasihin, told staffers to refrain from wearing songkok or kopiah when on duty, but can be worn during prayers.

It also reminded the staff to ensure they are dressed neatly, including wearing covered shoes, and to maintain good personal hygiene during their working hours. – The Vibes, January 17, 2022
