KUALA LUMPUR – Members of the public have been urged to act as whistle-blowers and report any incidents or suspicious activity related to the sale of fake vaccine certificates, ProtectHealth Corporation Sdn Bhd said today.
The Health Ministry (MoH) subsidiary issued the statement in light of several recent cases of medical practitioners selling fake vaccine certificates to the public.
ProtectHealth stressed that it will not compromise with any private medical practitioner found violating regulations.
“In line with this, ProtectHealth encourages members of the public to also act as whistle-blowers and to report any suspicious or illegal activities to the authorities.
“This initiative can act as an effective deterrent to prevent fraud,” they wrote in the statement.
The company then emphasised how mechanisms are set in place to ensure only qualified medical practitioners who meet all the prerequisites are allowed to be part of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK), explaining that they are then subject to training by the MoH.
It noted that random audits are conducted regularly on medical practitioners and health NGOs to ensure compliance with standard operating procedures.
“Should any non-compliance be found, ProtectHealth will take the necessary action and may suspend the private medical practitioner and healthcare NGO concerned from conducting vaccinations under PICK.
“In addition, ProtectHealth’s medical audit team will conduct on-demand investigations should there be any complaint lodged or whenever ProtectHealth observes any data anomaly from our monitoring,” the statement read.
Recently, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Acryl Sani had assured his force’s commitment in weeding out fake vaccine certificate syndicates, conceding there could be more than one syndicate within the country.
Last Friday, a private clinic doctor who was previously held for allegedly selling fake Covid-19 vaccination certificates in Terengganu was remanded again.
This time he was alleged to have received payments to supply Covid-19 vaccination certificates without performing actual injections and failed to provide the certificates to his clients. – The Vibes, January 19, 2022
