GEORGE TOWN – The business community here is stunned to learn of the death of former Malay Chamber of Commerce president Rizal Faris Mohideen Abdul Kader.

The 50-year-old died today from a heart attack.

He is also one of the sons of Consumers Association of Penang president Mohideen Abdul Kader.

A relative, who confirmed his death, said Rizal Faris apparently suffered a heart attack while undergoing treatment at a private hospital here.

Yesterday around 8pm, Rizal Faris had complained of chest pains before heading to the hospital.

He was laid to rest at 11am here today.

Rizal Faris, who also served as a Penang Island City Council councillor, was full of ideas on how to consolidate Penang’s reputation as a regional hub for trade and investments.

In previous interviews, he had envisioned Penang as a possible venue to host an Asian Economic Summit similar to the annual World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

He also wanted Penang to become a regional hub for the telecommunications industry by transforming the state into a preferred base for media start-ups.

His associate Syed Hassan Aidid said Rizal Faris’ ideas could not be realised but will be championed by his business partners, family, and friends. – The Vibes, February 14, 2022
