KUALA LUMPUR – The landslide at Taman Bukit Permai in Ampang yesterday evening has claimed a total of four lives, said search and rescue authorities.
The first victim, an 84-year-old man, was pulled out just before 7pm. He sustained minor injuries but his wife was found dead at 7.53pm and her body was pulled out at 9.15pm.
At 10.58pm, the body of the third victim, a male resident, was removed from the rubble.
The SAR operation ended at 2am after Ampang Jaya district police chief Mohamad Farouk Eshak later confirmed that rescuers had found the bodies of the last two victims, both males, one of whom was a Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd worker.
Their bodies were found at 12.46am and 1.59am.
While the soil remains unstable, Farouk said that authorities are not forcing residents to relocate, but have provided alternative accommodation for them.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Norazam Khamis then said the teams will use K-9 Unit tracker dogs at the site of the landslide to ensure there are no other victims involved.
All of the victims who were brought to Ampang Hospital have yet to be identified.
A representative of the Selangor government has also said that the Public Works Department is onsite and will perform inspections soon.
More than 100 personnel from police, Fire And Rescue Department, Civil Defence Force, Ampang Jaya municipal council, and volunteer forces – Rela – have been mobilised.
Shortly after 6pm yesterday, the Fire And Rescue Department responded to an emergency call about a landslide in Taman Bukit Permai.
Fifteen houses were affected with two houses buried by the rubble.
The tragedy has also drawn the attention of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yakoob who expressed sympathy for the victims in a Facebook post.
A day before, eight vehicles were destroyed by falling boulders from a hill in the same Taman Bukit Permai area.
The incident occurred at approximately 4.30am with no casualties reported. – The Vibes, March 11, 2022
