KUALA LUMPUR – Kota Anggerik assemblyman Mohd Najwan Halimi will be contesting for a seat in the PKR Central Leadership Committee and vying for the spot of Shah Alam PKR deputy chief in the party election next month.

The Vibes’ sister portal Getaran reported Najwan as saying that his decision was made after he held talks with and considered the views of leadership partners as well as members and supporters from the branch, state and central levels of the party.

He added his wish was to strengthen the party’s organisation, while upholding the presidential institution and organising PKR’s work plan, especially concerning strength mobilisation to face the 15th general election (GE15).

“By supporting the spirit of PKR’s big family, I hope that the upcoming election will be held in a responsible atmosphere, while raising politics based on values, ideas and services to the party and its members,” he said.

Having been an assemblyman in Selangor since 2018, Najwan said that he is committed to and is consistent in ensuring that the needs of the people in his area are raised and given due attention by the state government.

“At the same time, as a PKR member with experience in leading the state youth wing, the strengthening of youth organisations and membership will always be my political priority, be it at the branch or state level.

“This is seen by the increase in membership registration at Shah Alam PKR, which now has 11,000 members compared to 9,000 in 2018,” he said.

This year’s PKR election is set to take place from May 13 to May 18, with election campaigns officially beginning after candidate nominations today. – The Vibes, April 8, 2022
