PUTRAJAYA – Popular police chief SAC Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal, who gained fame for his widely publicised acts of kindness, could soon make a comeback to active field work after a four-month stint as the prime minister’s aide-de-camp (ADC).
The former Selangor Criminal Investigation Department (CID) chief said he expressed his intention to Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob during a four-eyed meeting between the pair earlier this month.
He subsequently filed an official transfer request to police through its online system and is currently awaiting an answer on his next posting.
“I spoke to the prime minister on April 2, and I mentioned that my skills and talents are better off utilised on the ground, because this is what I do best,” he told The Vibes on the side-lines of the launch of the e-Pemula programme by Ismail Sabri here today.
“The prime minister was very understanding, and he said he has no problem with my request. So, on the same day, I keyed in (a request in the system) for a transfer.”
Nik Ezanee said the four months of serving as the prime minister’s ADC has been an eye-opener, but ultimately, he feels that he belongs together with his men.
“They need leadership, and I want to be with them,” he said.
Pending an official transfer, Nik Ezanee said he will continue serving Ismail Sabri in the Prime Minister’s Department.
Nik Ezanee was part of a reshuffle involving five senior police officers in December last year.
He was appointed as Selangor CID chief on April 12, 2021. Prior to that, he held the post of Petaling Jaya district police chief for slightly over a year beginning February 17, 2020.
Nik Ezanee is known for his altruistic and magnanimous gestures, such as when he gave assistance to a mother of three who was caught shoplifting in a supermarket in January last year.
Rather than punishing the woman, he classified the case as “no further action”, and even went on to surprise her with basic necessities and a care package from the Welfare Department.
Accounts of his activities went viral on several occasions previously when he provided aid packages to those in need.
His appointment as the prime minister’s ADC in December caught quite a bit of controversy online, with many among the public believing that an officer of his experience and integrity should be better off given a bigger responsibility in the force. – The Vibes, April 15, 2022
