KUALA LUMPUR – Reallocate the Special Affairs Department’s RM85.5 million to Sabah and other states and industries, said Tuaran MP Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau.
In his statement, published in Berita Sabah.com today, he proposed that half of Jasa’s allocation – RM42.25 million – be earmarked for Sabah while the rest should be distributed to other states and industry sectors.
“Sabah deserves the extra RM42.25 million because we are hardest-hit by Covid-19 – in danger of becoming the Wuhan and/or Milan of Malaysia – due to the uncontrolled influx of illegal immigrants along the porous border.
“No parties and parliamentarians with consciences can support the allocation of RM85.5 million to benefit cybertroopers and cronies instead of Malaysians fighting the pandemic and struggling to make an honest living.
“As a loyal servant of Sabah and Malaysia, the United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation will vote against the budget or table motions to amend it in the committee stages if Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is adamant to bulldoze his flawed budget,” he said.
Jasa’s revival was revealed in Perikatan Nasional administration’s Budget 2021. The department was abolished under the previous Pakatan Harapan government after winning the 2018 general election.
Besides Bersatu and PAS, other MPs from both sides of the divide, including Umno – which is part of the ruling coalition – have joined in the chorus opposing Jasa’s revival. – The Vibes, November 14, 2020
