KEPALA BATAS – For Hari Raya Aidilfitri, two Umno politicians shared a message of unity, calling for Malaysians to set aside their differences for the good of the country.

Housing and Local Government Minister and Kepala Batas MP Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican said this is the time for Malaysians to set aside their differences for a while and come together to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

“We have been mired in things that are holding us back from being united but we can come together in the spirit of Aidilfitri.”

He said this during an open house at the Umno office here last night.

Meanwhile, former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, who arrived at about 10.30pm, also shared the same sentiment.

“This is the desire that lies in the heart of the people. Politics do not separate us from coming together as a nation during Raya. They come here setting aside differences and value the spirit of togetherness.”

More than 15,000 people, including the local community and leaders from MCA, MIC and PPP leaders attended the open house as Malaysians could not celebrate the occasion in a large-scale way in the past two years due to lockdowns brought about by the pandemic.

Also in attendance were Reezal’s wife Datin Seri Ismalina Ismail, Penang Governor Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak and wife Toh Puan Khadijah Mohd Nor, state Umno chief Datuk Musa Sheikh Fadzir and state MCA chief Datuk Tan Teik Cheng.

Meanwhile, singer Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza, who was there with husband Datuk Khalid Mohamad Jiwa, serenaded the crowd with Sesuci Lebaran and Nazam Lebaran. – The Vibes, May 8, 2022
