GEORGE TOWN – Pakatan Harapan lawmakers are snapping back at former colleague Afif Bahardin (Seberang Jaya-Bersatu) after he accused the state ruling coalition of lying about fulfilling the 2018 election manifesto.

In today’s Penang assembly sitting, Muhammad Faiz Fadzil (Permatang Pasir-Amanah) has called out the Perikatan Nasional coalition for not even having a manifesto.

“Instead of accusing the state of lying, what about coming up with constructive criticism and evaluating what has been done.

“Look at those that are already fulfilled and those that are being executed. I want to ask the opposition backbenchers, what and where is your manifesto?”

Opposition leader Datuk Muhamad Yusoff Mohd Noor (Sg Dua-Umno) immediately objected, saying that what was brought up yesterday was a warning to the state government.

“I did offer my congratulations to the state government, but what I want the state to do is to see it from my point of view, where though manifestos have been achieved, it has yet to reach its full potential.

“Look at Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) manifesto, and you’ll see that so many of its promises are not fulfilled.”

Yusoff also brought up PH’s failure to clear the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) debt.

Faiz shot back, saying PH has never promised to write-off the entire PTPTN debt, instead, it was PAS that offered to do so.

Yesterday, Afif told reporters that Chow Kon Yeow had confused the public by announcing that the state government had achieved 90% of its election manifesto.

On May 9, Chow announced that 68 initiatives had achieved 90% implementation with 54 fulfilled and 12 in the implementation stage.

Afif, two days ago, also got on the nerves of his former colleagues during the sitting when he praised Putrajaya for helping Penang manage the pandemic and Covid-19 vaccination. – The Vibes, June 1, 2022
