KOTA KINABALU – Bugaya assemblyman Manis Muka Mohd Darah died at a private hospital here today. She was 65.

Hailing from Semporna, the Parti Warisan Sabah member had yet to be officially sworn in after retaining the state seat in the September 26 Sabah election.

It was reported that she was in self-quarantine after the polls, and so, was unable to take her oath of office.

Warisan had kept mum on her condition, even after she completed her 14-day isolation.

News reports quoted a party source as saying Manis Muka had kidney issues, and was admitted into the intensive care unit last night.

“She died this afternoon,” the source was quoted as saying.

Manis Muka, who headed the Warisan women’s wing in Semporna, won Bugaya with a 6,005-vote majority, securing a total of 8,557 votes.

Warisan last month saw the death of its permanent chairman, Datuk Liew Vui Keong.

His death on October 2 triggered the Batu Sapi by-election, which will be held on December 5. – The Vibes, November 17, 2020
