KUALA LUMPUR – PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim assured members that the results of the recently concluded party polls are undergoing a full audit process by an independent firm.

In a short video message today, the Port Dickson MP said PKR has stood out from other political parties, who he claimed feared independent audits of their election results.

“This is our strength as a party. When we talk about transparency and integrity, we are well aware of the fraudulent practices of other parties who are not brave enough to undertake an audit process, as we are,” he said.

Anwar said the process requires some time to complete, but stressed that the company responsible for the audit will not prolong the matter unnecessarily.

The decision by party leadership to postpone their annual congress to July 15-17, he said, was made to provide an official two-week notice following the final results announced by the party’s election committee.

Anwar also assured the PKR election committee, led by Zaliha Mustafa, will thoroughly review any complaints received.

On June 10, Zaliha said the party has engaged a digital specialist to perform a full audit on the recently concluded party’s election results following feedback from its complaints panel.

She said the committee is presently satisfied with the overall progress of the work being done by the digital specialist so far, and expressed confidence that the findings to be presented soon would clear up the misunderstandings and confusion brought up by the complainants.

“As such, the committee will need slightly more time for this purpose before submitting the list of winners of the 2022 PKR elections at the branch, Wanita, and youth wings, as well as at the central level, which has been finalised and made official to the PKR secretary-general’s office,'' she had said in a statement.

Separately on the same day, PKR secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail confirmed that the party’s national congress will be postponed to the aforementioned dates and will be held at the Ideal Convention Centre in Shah Alam, Selangor.

Saifuddin said this was intended to give ample time for leadership at the divisional level to fill in necessary positions and confirm those who would be attending the national congress. – The Vibes, June 16, 2022
