KUALA LUMPUR – PKR is set to conduct its party congress from July 15 to 17 in anticipation of a possible dissolution of Parliament and national polls after July 31.
In a brief statement today, party communications director Fahmi Fadzil said the decision was affirmed by the party during its central leadership council (CLC) meeting, held last night.
“In relation to the 2022 party polls, upon the conclusion of all processes involving complaints and audit, the party elections committee will be announcing the official lineup involving PKR branches, divisions and national leadership soon.
“The newly elected leadership must act fast, in line and within a formidable group to take PKR’s political enemies during the 15th general election,” he said.
The CLC, he said, has finalised that the Wanita PKR congress and PKR Youth’s congress will proceed as scheduled on July 15 at the Ideal Convention Centre (IDCC), Shah Alam followed by the PKR National Congress on July 16 and 17 at the same location.
“The congress this time will focus on preparing the party’s machinery for the 15th general election as well the dissolution of the Parliament that can happen at any time after July 31.”
Additionally, Fahmi said the CLC also resolved that PKR will neither discuss nor cooperate with Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali as he is perceived by members, party supporters and the public as one of the main causes of the Sheraton Move.
The PKR congress, which was initially set to kick-off on June 24 till June 26, was postponed to mid-July as the party’s elections committee is currently in the midst of resolving objections to the party election results as well as a possible forensic audit.
PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has since assured members that the results of the recently concluded party polls are undergoing a full audit process by an independent firm. – The Vibes, June 21, 2022
