KUALA LUMPUR – Pasir Salak MP Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman has been relieved from his post as Umno supreme council member following a directive from party president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

According to FMT, the letter was issued by Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan who in the letter quoted Zahid as stating that he had terminated Tajuddin’s services as Umno Supreme Council member.

“The president (Zahid) through this letter ends the appointment of Datuk Seri (Tajuddin) as Umno Supreme Council member),” the letter dated June 21 stated according to the news portal.

In the letter, Ahmad also stated that Tajuddin should continue his service as a committed party member as well as congratulated him on his appointment as an ambassador.

The letter, however, did not state any reasons behind the decision to remove Tajuddin from the party post.

Tajuddin is set to become Malaysia’s new ambassador to Indonesia which has since received much criticism from various parties including Umno members as well.

Tajuddin was previously sacked as Prasarana Malaysia Bhd’s non-executive chairman in May, last year, days after his remarks on the LRT incident drew flak from the public.

During the Umno elections in 2018, Tajuddin had failed to win the party’s vice president post.

However, Zahid appointed him as a supreme council member on a nomination basis. – The Vibes, June 24, 2022.
