KUALA LUMPUR – Perak PAS has extended an invitation for embattled Umno MP Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman to defend his Pasir Salak parliamentary constituency via the Perikatan Nasional (PN) ticket in the 15th general election (GE15).

State PAS commissioner Razman Zakaria said this is a possibility if Tajuddin is not offered the chance to contest the seat by Barisan Nasional (BN) in GE15 and if PAS is allocated the constituency among PN parties.

He said this on the heels of Tajuddin’s removal from the Umno Supreme Council as decided by party president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi on Tuesday.

“Now with rumours that a general election will be held at any time. (It’s even being mentioned) by not only the ‘court cluster’ leaders, but even the prime minister himself.

“So if the 15th general election comes around and Datuk (Seri) Tajuddin is not given a seat by BN, then Perak PAS is ready to offer him the PN ticket representing PAS.

“(That is) if the Pasir Salak seat goes to PAS after allocations in PN,” he was quoted saying by party mouthpiece Harakah Daily.

Razman added that PAS would, however, not interfere with the matters of other parties.

Tajuddin, who was also recently appointed ambassador to Indonesia, was last year booted from his role as Umno election director.

Zahid, who refused to reveal the rationale behind Tajuddin’s sudden removal from the party’s Supreme Council, had said that the Pasir Salak MP knows the reasons for the move. – The Vibes, June 25, 2022
