KUALA LUMPUR – In a bizarre revelation, the woman reportedly at the centre of controversy over her comedy skit that allegedly insulted Islam claims she is “married”, and has seven boyfriends.

In a video posted on TikTok, Siti Amira Natasha Abdullah, who addressed herself as Amy, also said she had a pious upbringing and had worn conservative clothing when she was young.

However, she said the religious teachings instilled in her since she was young had “dissolved” after she decided to cease wearing the tudung (headscarf) at the age of 20.

In the undated video, which has been widely shared on social media, Siti Amira said she is 26-years-old and hails from Kuala Kangsar, Perak.

“I was raised in a family which held strong Islamic beliefs. When I was between 5- and 6-years-old I was made to wear the tudung, and had to cover my aurat (intimate parts), and wore stockings,” she said in the video, describing her personal background.

“But when I was 20, I officially started ‘removing’ the tudung, and ceased wearing it anymore.”

Siti Amira also claimed that from Form 1 until Form 3 of her secondary school years she was sent to a tahfiz religious school where she was made to memorise 15 juzuk (chapters) of the Quran.

She also said she had entered Form 6 to study business after completing the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia examinations, before continuing her studies in public relations at a university in Penang.

The woman also said she had worked in a related field before changing her career to marketing, reports Getaran, The Vibes’ Bahasa Malaysia sister portal.

“Now I am still working full-time and studying law at the same time while dabbling in comedy,” she said, ending the video by calling on viewers to send her questions if they want to learn more about her personal life.

Earlier today, police detained Siti Amira to investigate her for allegedly insulting Islam after a video clip of her performance went viral on social media.

In a statement yesterday, Royal Malaysia Police secretary Datuk Noorsiah Mohd Saaduddin said the woman in question will be remanded at the Brickfields district police headquarters for three days.

It is understood that the 28-year-old woman was detained in Taman Jaya, Jalan Gasing in Petaling Jaya at around 10pm last night.

In the 45-second clip, the woman introduced herself as “Siti Amira binti Abdullah”, claiming to be Muslim and to have memorised 15 chapters (juzuk) of the Quran.

A few seconds into her act she started to take off her headscarf and baju kurung to reveal her spaghetti-string top and miniskirt as the audience cheered and clapped.

Yesterday, the woman appeared on a live broadcast via her personal YouTube channel with her boyfriend “Alex” to interact with netizens, including answering questions.

Meanwhile, Crackhouse Comedy Club co-founder Rizal van Geyzel admitted that his team was, at first, thrilled to see a Malay woman in a headscarf wanting to participate in the event.

Little did he know that the night would turn from comedy to nightmare, resulting in his comedy club’s operating licence being temporarily suspended by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).

Deputy Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias said the suspension sends a clear message that his ministry and DBKL will not tolerate any activities that insult religious and racial sensitivities as well as the country’s sovereignty.

It was previously reported that Crackhouse Comedy Club had lodged a police report at the Taman Tun Dr Ismail police station against the woman, adding that she and her partner had been barred from the venue immediately after the performance.

The Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (Jawi) also conducted a preliminary investigation into the video, with its director Datuk Mohd Ajib Ismail saying that the probe had been carried out by the Jawi Enforcement Division. – The Vibes, July 10, 2022
