KUALA LUMPUR – Standing in solidarity with their open mic showbiz brethren, Merdekarya urged the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) to lift the temporary suspension of Crackhouse Comedy Club.

Merdekarya, which is also a restaurant and live music venue known for giving local artists and bands a platform and regularly hosting open mic nights, said that the event organisers are not responsible for policing those who “abused” their stage time.

The entertainment venue explained that this is because open mic provides everyone and anyone the opportunity to perform their respective acts, and it is nearly impossible for the organisers to predict what the artist would say or do.

In a detailed post on social media, Merdekarya claimed that the woman at the centre of the controversy is one-half of a bizarre couple who often leverage artistic venues in the Klang Valley to promote their own agenda.

“What is clear here is Alex and Amy are not comedians and merely used venues in the Klang Valley to promote their orgies.

“Unfortunately, Kuala Lumpur City Hall, in taking Amy and Alex’s bait, has suspended Crackhouse KL’s licence and has become an agency that has directly realised their plans.

“We urge DBKL to immediately retract Crackhouse KL’s licence suspension. If not, perhaps it is better for DBKL’s enforcement (department) to change its name to Alex and Amy’s sex cult implementation department,” said the venue operator.

The Vibes had previously reported that the woman at the centre of the controversy involving her comedy skit that allegedly insulted Islam claimed she is “married” and has seven boyfriends.

In a video posted on TikTok, Siti Amira Natasha Abdullah, who addressed herself as Amy, also said she had a pious upbringing and had worn conservative clothing when she was young.

During her time on stage, Siti Amira had appeared fully clothed in the Muslim garb before stripping it off to cheers from a segment of the audience believed to be her friends.

In a statement yesterday, Royal Malaysia Police secretary Datuk Noorsiah Mohd Saaduddin said they have remanded the woman at the centre of the controversy for three days to help with investigations. – The Vibes, July 11, 2022
