KOTA KINABALU – Eight Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) “Canggih Go”  participants made a total of RM8.85 million in sales after starting off with a shared allocation of only RM1 million capital from the government agency about one year ago.

According to Mara chairman Datuk Seri Azizah Mohd Dun, Canggih Go is a special textile entrepreneur development programme for Bumiputera entrepreneurs.

The programme is a collaboration between Mara and My Sutera Sdn Bhd, a school uniform producer.

“The programme covers training, business financial support, Mara business premises, advice and monitoring.

“The programme module covers the selection of participants, comprehensive training by My Sutera Sdn Bhd, and finally the entrepreneurs will choose the location for their outlets and be given a maximum of RM250,000 capital.

“Eight participants were selected based on the set criteria involving RM1 million in allocation since the programme was first introduced last year.

“Seven outlets were successfully opened, two in Pulau Pinang and one each in Perak, Sabah, Kuala Lumpur, Johor and Selangor,” Azizah said when met at the launching of a Canggih Go outlet here, today.

The outlets cater to selling high-quality school uniforms to approximately 6.5 million students in Malaysia annually,” she said, adding that parents would spend between RM50 and RM200 for a school uniform for their children.
