KUALA LUMPUR – Several locations across the Klang Valley are suffering from power outages, such as parts of Hulu Langat, Subang Jaya, Shah Alam and Nilai, as well as at KLCC.

Other areas affected include Bukit Jalil, Selayang, Bukit Damansara, Segambut, Sri Hartamas as well as Cheras.

Netizens are in the dark in parts of Petaling Jaya, Sunway, Seri Kembangan and Bangi.

The Vibes is also receiving reports of blackouts in Kota Baru, Ipoh, Penang, Kuantan and Seremban.

According to a Facebook post by the Kedah Road Transport Department, the power outage has forced the department to shut its Alor Star office.

The Federal Territories Information Department tweeted that the affected states include Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Negri Sembilan and Pahang.

Meanwhile, Tenaga Nasional Bhd at 1.23pm posted a brief statement on its Facebook page.

The company confirmed the incident and said its technical team is working on identifying the cause of the outages.

In Penang, Light Hotel general manager K. Raj Kumar told The Vibes that parts of Seberang Jaya had a minor power outage before it was restored a few minutes later.

Besides that, the Klang Valley’s light rail transit service is also affected by the outage.

In a tweet posted at 1.41pm, Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd announced that the services of the Ampang/Sri Petaling Line are disrupted.

Malaysia Airports Holding Bhd (MAHB) reported at 1.29pm that operations at Kuala Lumpur International Airport’s (KLIA’s) main terminal have been disrupted due to the power interruption.

Airport visitors are advised to approach staff on the ground for assistance.

At 2.42pm, MAHB said the power supply to the KLIA main terminal had been fully restored.

Also, a number of netizens have taken to social media to report disruptions with delivery services such as Grab.

They said delivery orders and bookings made during the outage have been cancelled.

Traffic lights in the city are down due to the outage, said Kuala Lumpur City Hall, adding that it has mobilised its traffic wardens to the affected areas.

In a brief statement to the media, the Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department confirmed that they are responding to reports of people stuck in elevators. – The Vibes, July 27, 2022
