KUALA LUMPUR – A 36-year-old man has been detained for apparently slashing another man with a knife yesterday, causing a 3cm deep wound on his left wrist.
Sentul police chief Beh Eng Lai said a report was lodged at 9.17pm and by 11.50pm the suspect was nabbed at the Sentul district police headquarters.
“Initial investigations found that a misunderstanding arose between the victim, 42, in front of a salon in Batu 5, Jalan Ipoh here with a man whom he knows.”
The 4pm incident took place after the alleged attacker was said to be dissatisfied with a Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission report made by the victim against the suspect, he said in a statement today.
He added that during the altercation, the suspect allegedly slashed the victim’s hand with a knife and wounded him.
The victim has been sent to Kuala Lumpur Hospital as he needed surgery.
Beh said the suspect has three criminal records and will be brought to court for a remand application to assist the investigation.
The investigation is carried out under Section 324 of the Penal Code, and if convicted, the offender could face up to 10 years in prison, a fine, or both.
