KUALA LUMPUR – Parti Bangsa Malaysia’s (PBM) application to join Barisan Nasional (BN) will be decided next week during a supreme council meeting, said the coalition’s deputy chairman Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan.

He added that the decision must be made in consensus with all four BN component parties.

“BN is a coalition that makes all its decisions by consensus and all parties must agree. So, please wait for the meeting to be held.

“A discussion (on PBM’s membership) will be discussed at the meeting. Even if one party disagrees, then we cannot allow it,” he was quoted as saying by Utusan Malaysia.

Previously, PBM president-designate Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin had said her party is still waiting for an answer from BN as it aims to enter the coalition and contest in the coming 15th general election.

Mohamad also revealed that Zuraida had met him earlier last month to discuss the matter.

PBM was formed last November with Julau MP Larry Sng named as president. He had said the party was keen to join BN ahead of the general election.

However, on May 26, Zuraida dropped a bombshell saying she had quit Bersatu to join PBM after months of speculation, and was later appointed president-designate. – The Vibes, August 9, 2022
