KUALA LUMPUR – Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has hinted that he may contest a seat other than Port Dickson in the looming 15th general election (GE15).

The PKR president said although his supporters and constituents in the Negri Sembilan seat have asked him to remain there, other supporters have asked him to represent them in their areas, Malay Mail Online reported.

He said the potential seats include the Tambun parliamentary constituency in Perak.

“I’m considering. Friends in Port Dickson have asked me to continue. Tambun said they are getting ready. And some other areas,” he was quoted as saying.

“Once I have decided, I will announce (my decision). It depends on when GE15 is going to be held,” Anwar was quoted as saying when speaking to reporters after attending the 2022 Climate Change Symposium in Parliament this afternoon.

In April, Anwar had said he was still contemplating whether he would defend the Port Dickson parliamentary seat.

The former Permatang Pauh MP had wrested Port Dickson in a by-election in October 2018, after being released from prison having received a royal pardon for his second conviction for sodomy. – The Vibes, September 5, 2022
