KUALA LUMPUR – Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has identified over 30 areas where urban renewal projects can be carried out so that the areas involved can offer a better quality of life for its residents.
Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim said the matter was included in the Kuala Lumpur Structure Plan 2040.
“Residents affected by the urban renewal projects will get better benefits, for example, houses that are now 400 sq ft in size will increase up to 800 sq ft and more,” he told reporters after speaking at the closing of the World Class Sustainable Cities (WCSC) Conference 2022 here today.
However, he said details on the matter would be presented later, adding that public feedback would be sought.
Meanwhile, Shahidan said the WCSC organiser would hold meetings tomorrow with residents of Seri Perlis 2 Flat and Langkawi Flat, which are among the areas involved in the implementation of the urban renewal project.
According to him, the unofficial talks would also involve relevant industry experts to share their views and proposals in terms of the upgrading that can be carried out in the affected areas.
He said the findings would be shared with DBKL for future action and planning. – Bernama, September 13, 2022
