GEORGE TOWN – Coming off the heels of Gua Musang MP Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah’s statement on Monday, the Umno lawmaker has gained another supporter – Parit Buntar MP Mujahid Yusof Rawa of Amanah.

In a Facebook post yesterday, Mujahid said Tengku Razaleigh’s letter was a “stinger”, adding that “Article 43 of the federal constitution clearly stated that to be prime minister, one must prove majority support in Parliament”.

Mujahid, who is also Amanah vice-president, said it is difficult to support the Budget 2021 because Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has failed in the basic task of convincing the MPs that he has the necessary majority to govern.

“So, what are we supporting in the first place,” Mujahid said.

He urged Muhyiddin to first restore democracy instead of playing on racial and religious sentiments.

“We have suffered from the use of racialism which has occurred following the Sheraton move. Currently, the MPs of 220 (minus two) need to uphold their oath of defending the federal constitution and to examine their conscience on what needs to be done.”

Mujahid also praised the letter Tengku Razaleigh had distributed to most MPs on Monday in the Dewan Rakyat. – The Vibes, November 25, 2020
