KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) is inviting the public to attend its free basic healthcare screening tomorrow, October 10 from 9am to 5pm, in conjunction with Doctors’ Day.

Held at MMA headquarters car park at 124, Jalan Pahang, Titiwangsa Sentral, the event will have medical check-ups conducted by almost 100 doctors from both public and private healthcare sectors.

The free screening event is part of the association’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme.

“MMA is delighted to be offering these healthcare services for free to the public as part of our CSR programme on Doctors’ Day,” said MMA President Dr Muruga Raj Rajathurai, in a statement, today.

“We hope the public will take full advantage of the free health screening services as it will be a good opportunity to get an update on their health status,”

“Through these initiatives, we hope to convey the message that scheduled medical check-ups are an important pillar to achieving and maintaining good health.

“The complimentary services at MMA’s headquarters include funduscopy, lipid profiles, ECG, HbAIc, breast ultrasounds, and blood tests. Comprehensive blood tests will be available for the first 100 registrants of the event. Blood donation drives will also be present that day.

“‘Navigating healthcare from treatment to prevention’ is this year’s Doctor's Day theme.

“More emphasis needs to be given to prevention in our practice, as many diseases can be difficult to treat when they are detected late.

“Not only are medical check-ups beneficial for health, they can also be life-saving for some individuals as better outcomes can be achieved if we are aware of our health status as early as possible,” he said.

Dr Muruga Raj further expressed his gratitude to the doctors for volunteering their services and the organising committee for their efforts in the upcoming event.

“I wish to thank the doctors who will be taking time off work to volunteer their services for the community at the event. I also wish to thank the organising committee for their tireless efforts in putting together the programme.

“To all colleagues nationwide, Happy Doctors’ Day. Keep up the good work,” he added. – The Vibes, October 9, 2022
