KUALA LUMPUR – Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) mobilisation bureau is inviting the public to sign up as volunteers to help flood rescue efforts in preparation for the rainy season.

Bureau chairman and Amanah president Mohamad Sabu said volunteers will help with the evacuation of flood victims and their belongings as needed.

“On our part, we are preparing our volunteer machinery at all levels to equip them for deployment in high-risk areas.

“We are ready to work with anyone who can provide expertise and assistance to minimise the loss of property due to floods,” Mohamad said in a statement.

“To get as much volunteer manpower as possible, we will be issuing registration forms to the public to sign up as volunteers,” he added.

Mohamad also said PH’s call for volunteers is in line with the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong’s call for everyone to be prepared to face year-end floods.

The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rains from the northeast monsoon season from the middle of November.

Mohamad noted that floods have already struck in certain places, as reported in the media, such as Sarawak.

Yesterday, floods also inundated parts of Kota Kinabalu and Penampang in Sabah. – The Vibes, October 10, 2022
