MIRI – Sarawak PKR has agreed for all its candidates in the 15th general election to use the Pakatan Harapan (PH) logo as a show of unity with the coalition’s partners, its deputy chairman Abun Sui said.

“This is a show of unity and purpose among Sarawak PKR and our party leaders throughout the country, and with our PH partners.

“We entered this poll as a united front with PH and are confident that we will play a significant role in shaping the country’s future by winning as many seats in Sarawak to enable a change of government at the national level,” he told reporters here today.

Sui who is also Sarawak PH information chief recently told The Vibes that he has been nominated by his party to contest in the Hulu Rajang parliamentary constituency.

Sarawak PKR will contest 16 of the state’s 31 parliamentary seats.

State PKR chairman Roland Engan had last month said it will field candidates in the 16 seats on behalf of Sarawak PH while the other 15 seats will be shared by Sarawak DAP and Sarawak Amanah.

Speaking at a press conference in Kuching, Engan said PKR will also contest in Julau, whose incumbent is the party’s former state chairman Larry Sng.

“The 16 seats we will contest is an increase from the 15 that we contested during the last general election.

“The other seats are Petra Jaya, Puncak Borneo, Sri Aman, Lubok Antu, Betong, Saratok, Kanowit, Mukah, Selangau, Sibuti, Miri, Baram, Hulu Rajang, Limbang and Lawas.

“The respective branches of these 16 seats will submit their candidates’ names to us in the state leadership council,” he said.

Engan added he is being proposed to be the candidate for Baram parliamentary seat.

The only incumbent MP for PKR in Sarawak now is Miri’s Dr Michael Teo Yu Keng.

The other MPs the party had before subsequently hopping to join others include incumbent Julau MP Larry Sng now with Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM), Willie Mongin (Puncak Borneo) who recently joined Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu, Datuk Ali Biju (Saratok), Masir Kujat (Sri Aman), Jugah Muyang (Lubok Antu) and Baru Bian (Selangau) who is now with Parti Sarawak Bersatu. – The Vibes, October 12, 2022
