Trio nabbed over bullets sent to Sarawak customs officer’s home

KUCHING – Sarawak police have arrested three men in connection with a criminal intimidation case involving a customs officer, who received live bullets at his residence here yesterday, said state police commissioner Datuk Aidi Ismail.

The suspects, aged between 35 and 39, were picked up after a police report was lodged by the customs officer, who got an envelop with two bullets in it.

“The motive is believed linked to a special operation carried out by the Customs Department enforcement division early this month that was headed by this officer,” said Aidi in a statement today.

The suspects have been remanded for four days until December 1, he said, adding that two of them have criminal records for drug-related offences.

“Two investigation papers have been opened under Section 507 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation by anonymous communication, which is punishable by imprisonment of up to seven years.”

He said police are hunting another suspect, Yong King Ling, whose last known address is No. 72, Lorong 6, Taman Rejang Park in Sibu.

Those with information can contact investigating officer Ramle Husin at 013-896-8963 or the nearest police station. – Bernama, November 27, 2020
