Sg Muar overflows causing 17 in Segamat to evacuate flooded homes

JOHOR BARU – Several houses in Segamat were flooded with knee-high water levels following the overflowing of Sg Muar since yesterday.

Segamat Disaster Management Committee chairman Hasrin Kamal Hashim said a total of 17 people from five families were evacuated to a relief centre at Kg Batu Badak community hall around 8am today.

He said the evacuees were from Kg Seberang Batu Badak and Kg Batu 5.

“As at noon, the number of flood evacuees remains unchanged.

“It has not rained for the past two or three days, however, the river levels in Negri Sembilan rose and caused Sg Muar to overflow, flooding some nearby houses,” he said in a statement. – Bernama, November 2, 2022
