KUALA LUMPUR – Disgraced former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak is again active on Twitter, prompting netizens to urge authorities to investigate who is accessing the account as the former Pekan MP is behind bars.
Also commenters who replied to his 9.24am Twitter post lambasted Najib, labelling him a “VIP prisoner” and that he should quietly serve out his 12-year jail term.
His first post today was to reiterate support for Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob as Barisan Nasional’s (BN) prime minister candidate.
Najib added that this was decided by the Umno Supreme Council as well as during the party’s general assembly this year.

As for his post at 10.13am, he shared a video of DAP candidate Leong Yu Man, who is running for Pahang’s Triang state seat, with a snarky tag #CukupSekali.
In the video snippet, Leong admitted that Pakatan Harapan (PH) has its good and bad, as well as apologising for the coalition’s mistake and asking to be given another opportunity to serve the people.
However, some commenters pointed out that it may be an account administrator posting the tweets on behalf of Najib.
Some questioned how a prisoner could have access to the internet.

His last tweet was on August 15, during his final appeal at the Federal Court seeking to overturn the SRC International Sdn Bhd corruption case. His conviction, 12-year sentence and the RM120 million fine was upheld. He is currently in Kajang Prison.
Najib’s incarceration ended his reign over Pahang’s Pekan parliamentary seat, which he held since 1976, except from 1982-1986.
In this general election, BN’s Datuk Seri Sh Mohamed Puzi Sh Ali will face four other candidates in Pekan.
Puzi, who was former Peramu Jaya assemblyman for two terms, is being challenged by Mohd Naim Zainal Abidin (PH-PKR), Tengku Datuk Zainul Hisyam Tengku Hussin (independent), Datuk Mohammad Radhi Abdul Razak (Gerakan Tanah Air-Pejuang) and Mohd Fadhil Noor Abdul Karim (Perikatan Nasional-PAS).
Najib’s son, Datuk Mohamad Nizar Mohamad Najib, was heavily rumoured to run in his place, but is instead fielded as BN’s candidate in the Peramu Jaya state seat.
In addition to the general election, Pahang, Perlis and Perak are having their state elections at the same time.
