KUALA LUMPUR – Early voting by military personnel has already been conducted today in violation of Election Commission (EC) rules, Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said.

The PKR president said this had happened in Bera, Pahang, the parliamentary constituency of caretaker prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

“I received confirmed information that voting by army personnel through postal votes began today, violating the EC,” Anwar said in a Facebook live video.

“In Bera, they (army) are voting today and getting RM300 each,” he added in the video of him speaking at a gathering of Terengganu PH leaders and supporters in Kuala Terengganu.

Early voting is only to take place on November 15, the date set by the EC. Polling day for other voters is on November 19.

Anwar said EC should take action now, specifically, by nullifying the votes cast today.

“EC must act – don’t tarnish the election. It is clear that Ismail Sabri is in panic mode since Barisan Nasional is in dire straits.

“This must be corrected, in other words, the votes cast by the army in Bera today must be nullified,” Anwar said.
