KUALA LUMPUR – Parti Bangsa Malaysia’s candidate for Hulu Selangor has vowed to fight for the betterment of Felda settlers in the constituency if she wins in the coming general election.

Haniza Mohamed Talha said she recently met with Felda settlers in Hulu Selangor where they highlighted several issues they faced.

Following that, she brought caretaker plantation industries and commodities minister Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin to meet the settlers and find solutions to three issues they were facing.

“Settlers who work their own palm oil plantations are having problems opening accounts, and they also want the government to allow cooperatives established by them to buy palm oil from settlers.

“The third thing they want is to increase the weight limit of monthly palm oil sales to factories from 15 tonnes for each settler’s account,” she said in a statement.

She said Zuraida then raised the matter with Felda’s top management and was recently informed that the monthly weight limit of palm oil sales was increased to 20 tonnes.

“The other issues raised by the settlers are also in the process of being resolved.

“The news was greatly welcomed by the Felda settlers here and many are expected to benefit from this decision. This recent development is also expected to raise the standard of living for Felda settlers.

“I will continue to work together with all relevant quarters to ensure the voices of these settlers are heard and also find solutions to other arising issues,” added Haniza. – The Vibes, November 12, 2022
