KOTA MARUDU – Warisan only lasted two years as a government because the opposition party did not get the people’s blessing, said Gabungan Rakyat Sabah chairman Datuk Seri Hajiji Mohd Noor today.
He said Warisan president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal failed to do anything for Kota Marudu during his two-year stint as chief minister and prior to that as the federal rural development minister.
“He talks like he knows everything, but what did he do for Kota Marudu when he was the chief minister? Not even a public toilet.
“The Warisan-led state government only lasted two years because it was a government that did not have the people’s blessings.
“He (Shafie) asked me what I have done. I want to ask him, what he has done in Semporna? He could not even handle the houses razed in Kg Bangau-Bangau, Semporna.
“It was only when the GRS-BN government took over that RM8.5 million was given for the settlement.
“Don’t tell lies. I don’t know how to talk like that. I only talk about facts,” said Hajiji during a ceramah held at the residence of Bersatu Sabah deputy secretary-general Datuk Maijol Mahap in Kg Kokobuan here today.
Shafie, who is defending his Semporna seat, is also running a nationwide campaign trail, with Warisan contesting 26 seats in Sabah and Labuan, and another 26 seats in the peninsula.
Shafie’s Warisan-led government, which included Pakatan Harapan and Upko, administered Sabah from May 2018 until August 2020.
Hajiji also said Datuk Seri Maximus Ongkili is still very much needed, especially in raising Sabah’s needs at the federal level.
He said the Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) president and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) candidate for Kota Marudu has been consistent and vociferous in fighting for Sabah rights.
“I need Ongkili to assist in voicing out Sabah’s demands to the federal government. His strong voice and persistence is still very much needed, particularly in demanding our rights in the 1963 Malaysia Agreement,” he said.
Hajiji described PBS’ decision to use the GRS symbol this time around as a huge sacrifice.
“This means a lot to me... That is why I want the people in Kota Marudu to vote for Ongkili,” he said.
GRS, which consists of Bersatu, PBS, Star, SAPP, and Usno, together with Barisan Nasional, pledges to do its level best to continue bringing development to Sabah, he said.
Ongkili is facing a six-cornered fight in Kota Marudu against KDM’s Datuk Wetrom Bahanda, Muda’s Shahrizal Denci, Pejuang’s Mohd Azmi Zulkiflee, Warisan’s Jilid Kuminding, and independent candidate Norman Tulang. – The Vibes, November 13, 2022
