KUALA LUMPUR – Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has been endorsed as prime minister candidate by a group of 70 Malay professors, who appealed for all voters to support Pakatan Harapan (PH) ahead of the general election this Saturday.

The group, called G70, in urging voters to support candidates of integrity, said PH chairman Anwar was the best choice for the country.

“After considering the prime minister candidates, we are of the view that Anwar is the one with authority and experience as well as the integrity required to lead a plural society where Islam is the religion of the federation, while restoring the country’s reputation in the global arena,” G70 spokesman Prof Datuk Wan Ramli Wan Daud said in a statement today.

The group’s statement was also issued at a press conference earlier today.

G70 added that Anwar, supported by PH, are also the best choices to help the country out of its economic problems while ensuring the people’s future.

“At the same time, (Anwar and PH are the best choices) to ensure the position of Islam and the Malays and Bumiputera,” G70 added.

The group of academicians also urged voters to reject candidates from coalitions who have “betrayed democracy and used their political positions for their own benefit”.

“Also reject those who use slander, and who exploit racial and religious sentiments to pit the ethnic and cultural groups against one another for their own political gain,” the professors said. – The Vibes, November 16, 2022
