KUALA LUMPUR – Perikatan Nasional has submitted two names for the Dewan Rakyat speaker and deputy, said PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan.

According to the New Straits Times, Takiyuddin said the names were submitted to the Dewan Rakyat secretary on Monday with both names consisting of a former minister and a well-known figure, both from the coalition.

Additionally, Takiyuddin said PN had already decided who will be the opposition leader in the Dewan Rakyat, with the name to be announced by coalition chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin soon.

“PN already nominated the candidate and for us, it does not matter whether he is from PAS or Bersatu as long as he can take the responsibility," he was quoted as saying.

The Dewan Rakyat is set for its first session and sitting for the 15th Parliament for two days from December 19 onwards.

In addition to appointing the Dewan Rakyat speaker, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is set to table the motion of confidence on his leadership during the sittings.

Yesterday, Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Azhar Azizan Harun and Parliament chief administrator Datuk Nor Yahati Awang conducted the briefing session for 183 newly elected MPs. – The Vibes, December 7, 2022,
