KUALA LUMPUR – The police are looking for a male suspect claiming to be the commander-in-chief of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) terrorist group who has threatened to shoot Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador.
The suspect also said he will attack the Bukit Aman police headquarters and Defence Ministry.
Bukit Aman CID director Datuk Huzir Mohamed said after the suspect sent the threats via email to the media, the police opened two investigation papers under Section 507 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act (AKM) 1998.
"The suspect is the same individual who was reported to have made an insulting statement against the Yang di-Pertuan Agong (Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri 'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah), which was previously investigated under Section 4 (1) of the Sedition Act 1948," he told a press conference in Bukit Aman today.
Yesterday, several media outlets reported having received an email regarding the criminal threat against Hamid from an individual who also claimed he would launch attacks in Sri Lanka.
In another development, Huzir said the police have requested for a committee to be set up to evaluate the post-mortem report pertaining to the death of Dutch model Ivana Esther Robert Smit last year.
He said the matter will be referred to the deputy public prosecutor.
"Police will refer this matter so that an evaluation committee is established here and in the model’s country of birth, namely the Netherlands."
It was previously reported that the model was found dead after falling from the balcony of a condominium unit in Kuala Lumpur. – Bernama, December 1, 2020
