KUALA LUMPUR – An express bus driver was hurt after the vehicle ended up in a ditch in Teluk Intan, during its journey from Jerteh, Terengganu to Tg Malim, Perak.

According to the Fire and Rescue Department, the double-decker bus swerved into the ditch after hitting a utility pole in Jalan Kuala Sg Manik, Teluk Intan early this morning.

The 21 passengers were unhurt in the accident.

Accidents involving express buses are fairly common along major highways in Malaysia.

In July, a double-decker express bus had overturned in Bangsar, leaving all 26 victims hurt.

Among the worst accidents involving double-decker buses was in December 2010 where 27 people died, including 25 Thai tourists.

The driver had lost control of the vehicle going downhill in Cameron Highlands and crashed into a slope. – The Vibes, December 23, 2022
