KUALA LUMPUR – Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) president Datuk Larry Sng said the party will prohibit all members from joining the non-governmental organisation Muafakat Nasional following its supreme council meeting.

In a Facebook post, yesterday, the Julau MP said party members who are discovered to have joined the NGO will have their membership suspended and ultimately revoked.

Sng reiterated that PBM supports the unity government, which is led by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and is aligned with Pakatan Harapan, Barisan Nasional, Gabungan Rakyat Sabah, Gabungan Parti Sarawak, Warisan and the Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM).

“They are our new allies, and the government’s position is our party’s direction.

“We are a national-based party with strong roots in Sarawak and Sabah. Therefore, we will focus on developing East Malaysia and highlighting policy issues on the peninsula,” he said.

Sng said that they currently have one parliamentary seat and three state seats, namely in Selangor (Sementa and Lembah Jaya) and Sabah (Segama).

“We will defend and collaborate with our allies in forging an electoral pact. Joining a coalition will be something to be explored after six months, but discussions are ongoing, he said.

Sng also added that he would be travelling throughout the country within the month of January to meet with party leaders to discuss and explain the party’s future direction besides appointing a new state chairman where necessary.

“I believe this is a new beginning. We need clean and experienced leaders who are sincere about bringing about positive change to the political landscape of this country.

“We will not bring in controversial leaders from other parties to join our leadership and will instead cultivate new leaders from within our ranks. He added that those who are unhappy with their situation are free to leave.

On Tuesday, the power struggle in Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) escalated with the sacking of 11 leaders, including “ordinary member” Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin.

In a statement, the party said all of the 10 members of the party were sacked following their failure to reply to their show cause letters issued a week ago.

PBM said that its disciplinary committee had held a meeting on December 27, to discuss the matter following the issuance of the show cause letter, noting that all individuals have been given seven days to explain themselves.

“However they failed to respond to the letter. Therefore, the disciplinary committee has moved to terminate their positions and membership effectively on December 27 (today),” the statement reads. – The Vibes, December 29, 2022
