IPOH – The special Perak Umno meeting tonight, which was expected to discuss the party's menteri besar candidates, has ended.

Former Supreme Council member and Padang Rengas MP Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz told the press waiting outside the party's headquarters here that the meeting lasted around one hour.

“The president (Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi) is chatting with the assemblymen.

“The meeting is over, it lasted around one hour,” said Nazri briefly.

Later, Zahid, Supreme Council member and Pasir Salak MP Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman, and former Perak menteri besar and Pangkor assemblyman Datuk Seri Zambry Abdul Kadir were seen leaving the building.

When asked about the details of tonight’s meeting, they were tight-lipped regarding the agenda.

All they said was Perak Umno state liaison chairman and Kota Tampan rep Datuk Saarani Mohamad was supposed to give a press conference.

However, Saarani, who is said to be a front runner for the menteri besar position gave the press corp the slip and snuck out through the building’s basement elevator.

The other possible menteri besar candidate from Umno is believed to be Rungkup assemblyman Datuk Shahrul Zaman Yahya. – The Vibes, December 5, 2020
