JOHOR BARU – Local company J&E Advance Tech Sdn Bhd has refuted former Gombak MP Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali’s claims that it received a contract to import eggs via direct negotiations, saying it is considering legal action against the Bersatu leader.

The company, which called Azmin’s statements untrue, also said that the Bersatu leader was attempting to confuse the public and deflect attention away from the graft allegations hurled against party leader Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

“In his desperate attempt to create a diversion, Azmin is taking his favourite ‘backdoor’ approach and making the lame spin of normal egg imports into a fake scenario of direct negotiations by the government to ‘buy imported eggs’ from us, which is an absolute lie.

“J&E Advance Tech Sdn Bhd has never sold eggs to the government and only imported the eggs as a stop-gap measure to supply local hypermarkets, supermarkets, and minimarkets during the festive season period from December 2022 to June 2023,” J&E was quoted as saying by Free Malaysia Today.

The company also rubbished Azmin’s allegations that it flouted regulations, as the government allowed their imported products to be exempt from safety inspections.

J&E explained that the Veterinary Services Department oversees the import of eggs from India, which has also received the Indian government’s Veterinary Health and Zoo Sanitary Certificate.

Following Azmin’s statements, J&E has demanded an apology from Azmin within 72 hours, with the company threatening legal action if he fails to do so.

J&E was also the first private company in Negri Sembilan to obtain approval to procure vaccines from Pharmaniaga LifeScience Sdn Bhd.

Yesterday, during a Perikatan Nasional ceramah, Azmin claimed that the government awarded the contract to import eggs via direct negotiations.
