BUKIT MERTAJAM – The wife of national striker Muhammad Syafiq Ahmad is reportedly in stable condition after undergoing a successful abdominal surgery, while the athlete’s daughter has been discharged.
Sharing the good news, Syafiq’s father, Ahmad Ibrahim, 56, said the entire family was grateful that the surgery was a success. Nur Amalina Norain, 25, underwent surgery at Seberang Jaya Hospital.
“Alhamdulillah (praise be to God), 2-year-old Aaira Nur Saffiyya has been discharged from the hospital and is in our care in Sungai Ara, while Nur Amalina is in stable condition after the surgery last night.
“Currently, only Syafiq is allowed to see Nur Amalina... Alhamdulillah, everything is going smoothly and I hope she will get well soon,” he said when contacted today.
He said his plan to transfer Nur Amalina to a private hospital for further treatment had to be postponed as the doctors treating her wanted to monitor her progress after the surgery.
On Syafiq’s condition, Ahmad said his eldest of four children was now communicating as usual after being depressed and listless since the accident that claimed two family members and an Indonesian maid.
“Syafiq seems more determined. He went to Seberang Jaya Hospital this morning to see his wife and daughter before informing me that Aaira was being discharged,” he said.
Syafiq was on his way to his in-laws’ house in Pendang, Kedah from Johor Baru with his wife and two children, when they met with an accident at 5.36am yesterday.
The footballer, 25, and his daughter sustained light injuries, while Nur Amalina was seriously injured. His 22-day-old son, Muhammad Aisy Saqeef, mother-in-law, Zainab Wahab, 45, and the family’s Indonesian maid, Titik Sukamti, 42, died in the accident. – Bernama, December 7, 2020
