KUALA LUMPUR – The government will upgrade the eKasih system using new technologies to obtain more accurate data of the poor and hardcore poor categories, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced.

The prime minister said that RM6.8 million will be allocated to upgrade the database of the eKasih system next year.

“I am aware that the existing system is not too effective, which is why efforts are being made to improve it so we can get more accurate data. Efforts are also ongoing to implement a new mechanism for eKasih.

“I believe that with this, detailed information (of people) in every area in the country, urban and rural, can be collected,” he said in reply to Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu during question time at today’s Dewan Rakyat sitting.

Faizal wanted to know whether the government would develop a more realistic and reliable system other than eKasih for reference and distribution of aid to deserving groups. – Bernama, December 8, 2020
