KUALA LUMPUR – Penang police chief Datuk Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain will be appointed as the new Kuala Lumpur police chief, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said.

According to Sinar Harian, Saifuddin said the transfer was decided during a meeting of the Police Commission on Friday.

“The transfer is part of several important personnel transfers that were decided during the meeting,” the minister was quoted as saying.

The KL police chief post had been vacant following Datuk Azmi Abu Kassim’s promotion to Bukit Aman’s management department director.

Saifuddin said Shuhaily’s appointment would fill the vacancy left by Azmi.

It was also announced recently that Bukit Aman Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay has been appointed as the federal CID director, effective April 16.

Ayob is set to replace outgoing CID director, commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Jalil Hassan, who will retire in the same month. – The Vibes, April 2, 2023
