KUALA LUMPUR – Datuk Che Mohamad Zulkifly Jusoh (Besut-PN) was ordered out of the Dewan Rakyat today after he took part in proceedings despite a three-day suspension order.
Deputy Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Ramli Mohd Nor, who was presiding over the sitting this morning and was also responsible for issuing the suspension order last Wednesday, noticed Che Mohamad’s presence in the House during the debate on the Finance Bill 2023.
Today is the third day of the PAS lawmaker’s suspension for ignoring repeated orders by the deputy speaker last Wednesday to sit down.
He had been questioning why English words instead of Bahasa Malaysia had been used in an amendment bill.
Che Mohamad, in reply to Ramli who asked him why he was present given his suspension, replied that he was not clear on when he should return to the Dewan Rakyat and as such, decided to attend today.
He said Ramli had not been clear when suspending him last Wednesday, if the three days only involved working days or included the weekend.
Ramli replied that it was working days and thus included today. Parliament does not sit on Fridays.
Che Mohamad then told the deputy speaker to refer to the Hansard to check what he said in giving the suspension order.
“Why was I then ordered to join (the Dewan Rakyat) on Monday?” the PAS lawmaker said.
Ramli, however, said he did not want to “argue” with Che Mohamad.
“Should I call police now?” the deputy speaker said, and ordered the lawmaker to leave the house.
Ramli added that the three-day suspension might be extended if Che Mohamad kept arguing. – The Vibes, April 3, 2023
